Internet Filtering
  • The Internet Filtering paper was developed as part of the coursework for MEDT 6467.
  • The Internet Filtering paper was the result of the process of researching the facts and having a discussion with another group of people within the class on the pros and cons of Internet Filtering. We were able to demonstrator the AASL Standard 3.3 (Educational Leader) because our resulting debate and subsequent paper, allowed us to examine the professional journals and focus on a current and ongoing educational trend and important issue. Because of this paper I am now armed with the tools I need to translate for the school the ways in which the media program can enhance school improvement efforts by ensure uninhibited access to information.
  • Because of the research and follow-up discussions, I feel that I am an advocate who supports the intellectual freedom and privacy of users. This demonstrates the AASL Standard 4.1, Managing Information Resources: Selecting, Organizing, Using.
  • Armed with the research from the Internet Filtering paper, I demonstrate effective leadership skills by advocating for a student's library bill of rights to access to information. This will lead to educating students who will become life-long learners. Both the characteristic of Leader and Life-Long Learners is contained in the UWG CoE Conceptual Framework.
